If you know these words,you are at home in classics of Japanese music.

Cero is now one of the most popular band in summer festival in Japan. Their live performance is not only highly polished,but also psychedelic and crazy sometimes. They are often featured by music festival like "fujirock","taico club",and so on.

The music style is hard to define.The essence of pop,dub,hiphop,exotic,fusion,psychedelic rock.
Their recent album is said to be affected by D'angelo and Robert Grasper and ATCQ.But I think their live skills is much better than that of Robert Glasper.

If you likes music like hiphop,soul,jazz fusion,dub,fishmans,yura yura teikoku,
you had better go to their live or buy cd.

If you want to buy a variety of records at cheap price,
Disk Union Shimokitazawa is one of the most recommended record store in Japan.

This is 1-story store,
but have a massive amount of records in wide range of genre.
So it is comfortable to dig across genres.

And there is a partition between main floor and club music floor.
You can do trial listening at both spot.

The price line is a little cheaper than that of Shibuya.

And when you get tired of diggin records,
there are many choices in shimokitazawa town.

You can take a walk,have a coffee,take a lunch,shopping at used clothing shop or used book store,or digging in another record store.

I recommend you to spend lwhole day to enjoy Shimokitazawa.

Ikebukuro is the North gate of Tokyo to Saitama prefecture.
The city is as large as Shibuya and Shinjuku.

Disk Union Ikebukuro is very close to the Station.
This store is especially strong at world music,Japanese pops and rocks,
but is not so weak at other genre,as selling floor is not small.

According to the store location,4th floor of the building,
this union have atmosphere of secret place.
So if you have time,it is recommended to visit this store to get lucky finds.

Do you know BOOKOFF?
BOOKOFF is large used book store chain in Japan.
You can see them in every big city.
They are selling not only used books,
but also used CDs and DVDs and Blue-rays,watches etc.
Its so to speak thriftshop shop.

Some of them are selling used clothing too.
Clothes of famous brand like ralph lauren, comme des garcons,
are sorted by their brand name.
These products are sold at proper price.

But clothes which are made by not famous brands or clerk don't know
are gathered together at cheaper price.
This corner is good place to dig.

As Japanese people tends to use much money on clothes,
and BOOKOFF have large network of buying in all over Japan,
the knowledge of each shop's clerks can't catch up with it.
So there are good clothes buried.

If you are lucky or knowledgeable or having good feeling,
you can find good items at cheap price.

Machida BOOKOFF are the larger of all groups. 

This large used clothing building is located in front of diskunion machida.

So if you go to dig in diskunion machida,
it is recommended to go to bookoff machida to get some clothes.

Machida is the south-west edge of Tokyo.
Take a 30-40min ride of Odakyu line,
and you'll in the conventional suburban city.

Disk Union Machida is strong at hiphop and sampling source.
Though I've never been to night clubs and dj bars in machida,
I hear hiphop and reggae is popular.

But sometimes I've found nice house records and Japanese pops
at good price.
And It is good point that this shop is not so crowded.
So you can spend time in digging comfortably.

I'm a music lover in Tokyo.
I' going to write mainly about night clubs and record shops in Tokyo.

Why dance music?

At first,I define the word "Dance music " in this blog,
as deep house,techno,disco,rare groove,club jazz,rock.
These are just my favorites.And its OK.

When I take a trip to overseas,
I feel like to dance in that city.

I want to see and experience deep scene of the city.
But it's always a little bit labor to find good music spot,
without friends who live there,
because When I google "night club",
the results are so many in the big city like Tokyo.

So,
I hope this blog would be the guidance for the travelers
who are going to come to Tokyo or already in Tokyo.
